Companies with assets of up to R$ 10 million will not be required to publish financial statements

Published in the Official Gazette of the Union of April 25 was the rule that amends the Corporations Law, defining the framework for mandatory publications, such as publishing a balance sheet.

The rule raises from R$ 1 million to R$ 10 million the limit on the net equity of a privately held corporation with fewer than 20 shareholders.

The text modifies article 289 of the Corporations Law, altering its means of publication. As a result, it is no longer necessary to publish in an official body of the Union or of the State, but only in a newspaper of wide circulation published in the same locality where the company’s head office is located. These changes come into force on January 1, 2022.
