A father recently went to court to request joint custody of his child and also an adjustment to the child support payment, in accordance with his resources. At first, according to a judge’s decision, the possibility of including both requests in a single proceeding was denied. The Lassori firm’s client, however, succeeded before the Court of Justice (Tribunal de Justiça), and the case moves forward.
The new judicial assessment, resulting from the work of Lassori’s attorneys, shows that it is possible to join the requests in a single proceeding.
This decision was beneficial to everyone – client, attorney, and the Justice system – since no one would gain from increasing the number of proceedings, with greater costs and demand for time. This optimization, moreover, according to Lassori, may be evaluated for other cases and clients.
The father has already obtained the requested reduction in the amount of the child support payment, and the matter of the child’s custody is still pending, awaiting an outcome.
