Tax regularization has a new deadline. The federal government published this past Friday, the 29th, Provisional Measure 804/2017, which extends until October 31 of this year the final deadline for enrollment in the Special Tax Regularization Program (Pert), known as the New Refis. The Provisional Measure appears in an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU). Without this change, the deadline would have ended on the 29th.
The debt installment program provides for more favorable conditions for debtors of up to R$ 15 million. The Provisional Measure further establishes that taxpayers who opt for the installment plan in the month of October will have to pay cumulatively the installments for October, September, and August, which was initially the deadline month for enrollment.
The New Refis is still under consideration in Congress, by means of Provisional Measure 783/2017. Last week, the Chamber of Deputies approved the base text of the Provisional Measure, which brings more generous discounts and a relaxation of the rules for debtors. The validity of the Refis Provisional Measure ends on the 11th.
