Income tax refunds begin on the 16th

The bank credit relating to the income tax refund (IRPF) begins to be issued on the 16th of this month, for 1,636,218 taxpayers, according to the Federal Revenue Service (Receita Federal). It will total more than R$ 3 billion. Consultation is already open for the first batch of 2017, which also includes the residual refunds for the tax years from 2008 to 2016.

This batch also includes taxpayers with priority, more than 1.5 million elderly people and 108,000 people with some physical or mental disability or a serious illness.

To check, simply access the Federal Revenue Service’s page on the internet or call the Receitafone, at number 146. You may also use the application on tablets and smartphones. This tool makes it possible to check information on the release of refunds and the registration status of a CPF enrollment directly in the Revenue Service’s databases.

The refund will remain available at the bank for one year. If the taxpayer does not collect it within this period, they must request it via the internet or directly at the e-CAC, through the DIRPF Processing Statement service.

If the amount is not credited, the taxpayer may go to any branch of Banco do Brasil or call the Service Center to schedule the credit to a checking or savings account, in their name, at any bank – 4004-0001 (capitals), 0800-729-0001 (other locations), and 0800-729-0088 (special telephone exclusive for the hearing impaired).
